Introducing Blog It, Powered by TypePad

Major props to David Recordon, Bryan Tighe and Jamison Weiser on the release of Blog It Powered by TypePad.

Blog It is special to me because it manifests a core value and principal we all share at Six Apart: to make blogging better for everyone. It shows a desire to reach out to bloggers everywhere, regardless of your preferred blogging tool, and help make your blogging experience better.

By the way, if the idea of working on cool projects like this one, or if the idea of having 1 day a week to hack on anything you like, or if the idea of helping to shape the very fabric of the Internet like OpenID, Atom and OAuth is exciting to you, or if you share with us the genuine desire to make blogging better for everyone - Six Apart is hiring!

Trying out new LJ styles

So "The Style Contest" wrapped last night and the output is amazing. There are some great new styles. I am now going through the process of documenting all the quirks with LJ so that we can bring these designs to the LJ community in a manner that makes it crazy easy to use. Crossing my fingers.

My LJ is now sporting one of my favorite styles in the contest...

Under water

So Christmas, er Holiday, break was great. Arin was nice enough in humoring my desire to spent almost every waking moment hacking on my various little projects, Sidebar Manager, Photo Gallery, Media Manager, MTAmazon, Test Run and so forth. I got so much done, and was able to really get in the zone, allowing me to be uber-productive. But now, the honeymoon is over. The software has been released, and now I have to support it. I am getting about 20 emails a day from users who need help or have questions. I fear getting so behind in keeping up with the demand, that I will simply abandon certain customers/users, or hell the software itself. AAAAAAAH.

Ouch! Don't nudge so hard

Seriously - the best feature of LiveJournal is the LJ nudge. I got this awesome email moments ago:

Hey byrnereese,
Your mutual friend authenticgeek has noticed that you last updated your journal on LiveJournal 20 weeks ago. Be a friend and go post. (http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml)
Sincerely,
The LiveJournal team

Brilliant.

It begins with my grandmother walks out on stage...

Arin and I went to go see "The Aristocrats" on Friday. Holy farging sheet this movie is funny. Although I don't personally recommend thaking your parents or else you may have some splaining to do.

But go see it. For crying out loud, go see it. I think it may very well star every single good comedian on the planet (except Seinfeld, but for obvious reasons, as explained in the movie).

Yosemite and Paintball

Holy crap... so you would think that after hiking in Yosemite for 5 days that my legs would be sore. They were not, much to my suprise. But then I went paintballing on Saturday and I can hardly walk. Weird.
